Re: Notice of Application for a Mining Licence: EL00****
Locality of the land to which the application relates:……..
Approximate area of application:…….
Applicant: Mining Company name
ACN: 632 *** ***
Company Address
I strongly object to the grant of this mining licence on the following grounds
- impacts to local heritage sites, indigenous & historic
- damage to sensitive local habitats, vegetation communities & wildlife
- stress caused to landowners
- threats to particular rare, endangered, vulnerable flora & fauna present locally
- concerns that biosecurity wash-down procedures by exploration workers won’t be adhered to
- concerns that exploration workers movement within & between properties elevates biosecurity threats, especially for farmers with a Property Identification Code (PIC)
- concerns that movement of company vehicles & machinery could spread animal diseases, weeds & pollutants
- concerns that damage to soil, pasture, crops or vegetation won’t be fixed by the company eg. deep ruts from bogged trucks, broken fences
- concerns that the company will not seek landholder permission to enter their land. If they enter without permission, the police will be called
OTHER ACTIONS
- Apply for a Trust for Nature Covenant over your property. The mining company is more likely to lose interest in any property with this covenant
- Put ARMR Lock the Gate signs on your property boundary, especially individual gates that front a main road.
- Put ARMR Lock the Gate signs up on any sympathetic properties between you and a larger town, particularly on the roads with through traffic
- Aim for a target of 20 ARMR Lock the Gate signs in your locality. Mining companies quickly lose interest when there may be a contest for it to proceed
- Write to your local ward councillor & MP emphasizing that the Exploration Licence application is placing undue stress on your community
- Invite local media reps out to the exploration activity site to photograph/video mining equipment (eg. drilling rig, bulldozer, fuel dumps, etc) & damage to soil & vegetation
- Mining companies often use an agent to register their application. Check for the agent’s mobile phone number on the application form. Ask the agent for contact details of the mining company’s manager
- Attend monthly ARMR Zoom meetings. ARMR membership is $20 per year
